Privacy Policy

StakeRight, for iPhone and iPad

The short version

We don't collect your personal information. We don't run servers that receive your campaign data, and we can't see it.
Your signs, photos, and campaigns are stored on your device and in your own iCloud account.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared with data brokers.
When you share a campaign, the people you invite can see that campaign's data.

What StakeRight uses, and why

Location

While you're using the app, StakeRight uses your device's location to show you on the map, to record where each sign is placed, and to note where you were standing when you deployed it. The app does not use your location in the background.

Camera and photos

StakeRight uses the camera or your photo library only when you choose to attach a photo to a sign. Photos you attach are stored with that sign.

Campaign and sign information

Everything you enter, including campaign names and colors, election dates, sign locations, addresses, sizes, notes, inventory counts, and pickup records, is stored so the app can show it to you and your team.

Operator name

The name or call sign you enter in Settings → Account is stored on your device. When you deploy a sign, that name is saved on the sign so reports can show who placed it. In a shared campaign, your teammates will see it.

Sign in with Apple (optional)

If you choose to link your Apple Account, Apple provides the app with an anonymous user identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email address. StakeRight keeps these on your device to label your account. We never receive them.

Where your data is stored

StakeRight stores your data on your device and syncs it through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. It stays under your Apple Account, protected by Apple's security and encryption, and counts toward your iCloud storage. Lean Right Consulting does not operate servers that receive this data and has no way to view it.

Shared campaigns

When you share a campaign by invite, link, or QR code, everyone who joins can see and edit that campaign's signs, photos, notes, operator names, and settings. Anyone who has a campaign's join link can join it while the link is turned on, so share it only with your team.

The campaign owner can see who has joined, remove people, or turn off the join link at any time.
If you leave a shared campaign, or it stops being shared, your own copy stays on your device.
Shared data is stored in iCloud using Apple's sharing features, not on our servers.

Services the app contacts

To draw maps, district lines, and traffic estimates, StakeRight requests public information from these services:

Apple Maps, for maps and street addresses, under Apple's privacy policy.
U.S. Census Bureau (TIGERweb), for state, county, city, congressional, and legislative district boundaries.
State and local government GIS services, such as the Idaho Map Hub, for Idaho boundaries and precincts. Some are hosted on Esri ArcGIS.
Idaho Transportation Department, for public road traffic counts used in impression estimates.
Public election data services, for polling place locations where available.

These requests contain map coordinates or an area of the map. They do not include your name, account, or campaign information. Like any internet request, they include your device's IP address, which those providers handle under their own privacy policies. We don't receive these requests or their results.

Reports and email

PDF reports and printable sign cards are created on your device. They go only where you send them, for example by email, AirDrop, or printing.

What we don't do

We don't show ads.
We don't include analytics, advertising, or tracking software.
We don't track you across other apps or websites.
We don't sell, rent, or share your information with data brokers.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays until you delete it. You can:

Delete individual signs or whole campaigns in the app.
Delete the app to remove its data from your device.
Remove StakeRight's iCloud data in the Settings app: tap your name, then iCloud, then Storage, then StakeRight.
Unlink your Apple Account in the app under Settings → Sync, or stop using Sign in with Apple for StakeRight in your Apple Account settings.

Data you shared stays in teammates' copies of that campaign until they delete it.

Children

StakeRight is a tool for campaign teams and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act give you the right to access or delete personal information a business holds about you. Because Lean Right Consulting doesn't collect or store your personal information, there is nothing held by us to access or delete. You control your data directly through the app and your iCloud account. If you have a question, contact us and we'll help.

Changes to this policy

If we change how StakeRight handles information, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
